Project Background
The BMW Shanghai Experience‑Center serves as a key brand landmark. It receives large flows of car fans, business guests and ordinary visitors every year. Hence, the client needed more than simple wall decoration. First of all, they required stable, high‑load display platforms for classic vintage cars and modern vehicle exhibits. Besides, they hoped to build themed exhibition zones to show BMW’s brand heritage, technical innovation and art‑car collections. Meanwhile, comfortable rest zones and guided‑tour passageways were necessary for group visits and public sightseeing. What is more, all structures and decorative parts had to follow permanent‑space fire‑safety rules, and match BMW’s minimalist, premium visual system.
Core Project Challenges
To start with, vintage and modern cars are extremely heavy. As a result, display platforms and under‑support frames needed special reinforced treatment for long‑term load‑bearing. Secondly, lighting design was critical; proper light should highlight car body lines, paint gloss and historical exhibit details without visual glare. Furthermore, we had to separate vehicle‑show areas, history‑exhibition zones, interactive media spaces and public lounge areas clearly, while keeping smooth, wide visitor routes. Besides, every custom‑made decorative module, metal frame and graphic wall needed strict brand‑style review. Last but not least, on‑site construction must coordinate with the existing building structure, and control noise and dust to minimize site interference.
Solutions & Execution Process
First off, our design team deeply studied BMW’s global brand visual standards and the functional layout of the Shanghai Experience‑Center. Next, we created multiple space‑planning and 3‑D render drafts. After many rounds of brand‑side feedback and revision, we confirmed the final solution. Correspondingly, we divided the whole exhibition space into four core functional blocks: front brand entrance image zone, central heavy‑duty vehicle‑display platforms, brand‑history & art‑car exhibition gallery, and rear visitor rest & guided‑tour service area.
Additionally, our engineering team reinforced all vehicle support platforms and underground support structures to meet long-term heavy-duty demands. We also established an adjustable professional spotlight panel to restore the true body color and shape of the displayed vehicles. Once the design is approved, all custom structural components, display cabinets, and graphic installations are produced at PHILFLY’s own production facility. Our team has internally completed load-bearing tests, surface treatment inspections, and pre-assembly inspections. After comprehensive quality checks, all components are carefully packed and shipped to Experience-C
Once the materials arrived, our skilled construction team began gradually carrying out the on-site work. They installed reinforced display bases, large branded graphic walls, built historical exhibition display cabinets, installed multimedia equipment, and completed a comprehensive lighting commissioning. Throughout the construction phase, our dedicated project managers maintained real-time, continuous communication with BMW customers and the property management team. Whenever minor on-site adjustments are needed, our team delivers quickly and compliantly
The end
Ultimately, all customized exhibition facilities at the BMW Shanghai Experience Center passed safety and brand standards and were fully delivered as planned. The minimalist high-end styling perfectly aligns with BMW’s global brand positioning. The reinforced display platform securely displays antique classic cars and modern exhibits. The professional lighting with targeted adjustment effectively showcases the body’s texture and details. In addition, well-organized tour routes allow individual visitors and large tour groups to pass smoothly. Visitors can tour the car exhibition, learn about the brand’s history, and relax in designated lounge areas.
This milestone real-world project fully demonstrates PHILFLY’s solid capabilities in booth design, construction, and full-chain exhibition services. From early concept design, factory custom manufacturing, to logistics
